SUPPORTING LOCAL SCHOOLS

Educ-Aid works closely with the Greek-Orthodox Archdiocese of Nigeria in supporting remote primary schools founded and managed by the Archdiocese.

Nursery – Primary Schools in Nigeria:

  1.  School of “Christ – Emanuel”, Karmem, Benue state.
  2.  School of “Τhe Assumption of Virgin Mary”, Nanka, Anambra state.
  3.  School of “Saint Christopher”, Awo Idemili, Imo state.
  4.  School of “The Birth of Christ”, Umuhu-Okabia, Imo state.

The Foundation has already planned and carried out a number of actions such as supplying schools with various school and student materials.

Community Service in Africa

As part of their commitment to support education in less privileged areas, Chrysanthi and Kornilia participated in a Community Service program in Ghana, West Africa. The two founding members of “Educ-Aid” joined a group of young adult volunteers offering tutoring to the pupils of primary school, Krobo Girls S.H.S, in Odumase Krobo, eastern region of Ghana, and contributed to the school’s general needs.

The participants helped with the refurbishment of the school campus and made improvements to the facilities.

They also served every aspect of the local school and got to learn first hand about education in an African country, such as Ghana.

The experience will greatly enhance the scope of the ”Educ-Aid” foundation in trying to tackle and target specific issues of local schools and education system in Africa.

EXPANDING THE SCOPE IN NIGERIA

The Foundation expanded its scope of actions in Lagos, Nigeria and now supports the “Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria”, a local foster house and shelter for young people suffering from Down Syndrome.

HELPING REFUGEE CHILDREN IN GREECE

The Foundation supports the NGO “Iliaktida AMKE” based in Mytiline, Lesvos island, which operates shelters for vulnerable asylum seekers and “unaccompanied & separated children” (UASC).

The Foundation members gathered and distributed clothes and other necessities to
the young refugee children and single mothers.

SEA RESCUE PATROLS OFF LESVOS ISLAND

The Foundation members volunteered with NGO “Refugee Rescue” operating from Skala Sykaminias in northen Lesvos and participated in “Search & Rescue (SAR) operations along the northern sea borders of the island.

They also gathered and donated boat equipment & materials for the ”MoChara”, the rescue boat used in the NGO’s operations.
